Pip Wilson

Pip Wilson

Pip Wilson is predominantly a greeting card illustrator, be he also loves to dabble in fine art when he gets the chance.

Pip has a long history in the greeting card industry, gaining his first post out of Art College with Sharpe’s Classic Cards as a junior artist. After completing his apprenticeship there, he moved to Oxford to work for Kingsley Cards for several years.

Returning to his home county he embarked on a successful freelance career, supplying illustrations to a host of greeting card companies up and down the country. Initially freelancing he solely worked for Card Factory as one of the founding members of the studio team, later joining the company in full time employment where he remained with the company for many years, up until recently when he left to regain his freelance status, enabling him to focus on his fine art but still keeping a hand on his greeting card illustration.

He covers a wide variety of styles and subjects using textiles, materials and textures alongside traditionally styled illustration, digitally emulating oils, pastel, watercolour, pen and pencil.

Pip is located in the rural outskirts of Leeds where he enjoys walking along the canals and river banks which surround he village where he lives, an ideal location for gathering photographic reference for his paintings. Being centrally located in Yorkshire he also likes to visit the coast and North York Moors for a more dramatic change of scenery, an irresistible draw for an artist.
