Following many years working as a countryside professional Lucy took a career break to return to education. In 2015 she graduated with a first class honours degree in Graphic Design and was awarded the University of Cumbria’s Derwent Prize for Excellence.
Keen to develop the environmental narrative in her work Lucy returned to university where she focussed on environmental ethics and narratology, completing an MA in Creative Practice in 2020. She has written and illustrated her first self published book Eyes Wide Ears Open which mixes her love for the natural world and her poetic musings along with her distinctive wildlife illustrations.
Lucy is a contemporary print maker, mixing traditional mark making techniques with modern digital practices. She exhibits her work in galleries, has been selected on numerous occasions to participate in Scotland’s premiere open studio event Spring Fling and has a growing number of stockists in the UK selling her prints and illustrated giftware.
Lucy lives in south west Scotland and loves to fill her sketchbooks with words and pictures inspired by her direct experience of the natural world.
