Imogen Joy is an English Illustrator, based in Sydney, Australia. Since early childhood she was encouraged to draw by her mother, an artist and art teacher who nurtured Imogen’s love of art and ability to think creatively. Imogen’s work is highly imaginative, with a strong sense of story-telling and the magical and whimsical. Subjects she loves to explore include, birds and animals, people, and motifs from nature. Her educational background is in fine art where she specialised in drawing and printmaking, but she was delighted to find a voice through illustration and surface pattern design which have become the perfect vehicle to express her whimsical themes and share her work with a wider audience. Imogen studied surface pattern through the Make it in Design online courses and was awarded first prize in the intermediate and advanced categories of their online global design challenge, two years running.
In her spare time she loves being with her little boy, who provides an endless source of inspiration. Together they go on little adventures often involving climbing trees, spotting animals at the zoo, and jumping in salty ocean waves.
